Collection: Yamagiwa Lighting

Yamagiwa is Tokyo’s design lighting maker since 1923: the Jakobsson Lamp in thin European pine and Toyo Ito’s Mayuhana in spun fiberglass, made in Japan.

Yamagiwa works with internationally acclaimed architects and designers to create lighting that shapes the space around it. We carry two of its signature families, sourced through the official US distributor and wired for 120V.

Jakobsson Lamp (pine)

Mayuhana by Toyo Ito (spun fiberglass)

How to choose

  • Warm and natural: the Jakobsson pine glows reddish-orange and shows its grain.
  • Soft and sculptural: Mayuhana diffuses light through two or three spun-fiberglass shells.
  • Install: pendants are hardwired; table and floor lamps plug in.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Yamagiwa lighting made?

In Japan. Yamagiwa was founded in Tokyo in 1923 and makes both the Jakobsson Lamp collection and Toyo Ito’s Mayuhana series.

Are these lamps wired for the US?

Yes. We source them through Yamagiwa’s official US distributor; they are 120V AC. Pendants are hardwired, so plan on a licensed electrician.

Do Yamagiwa lamps come with bulbs?

Bulbs are not included on most models. Each product page lists the socket and maximum wattage from the US distributor.

Can Yamagiwa lamps be used in a bathroom?

No. They are rated IP20 for indoor use, and the distributor advises against humid rooms and bathrooms.

How fast do Yamagiwa lamps ship?

In-stock Yamagiwa lighting ships in 2–3 business days. We have curated design-led lighting since 2009.
