Antoni Arola for Santa & Cole: Lamps for Calm, Well-Lit Rooms

Santa & Cole Sistema Lámina pendant designed by Antoni Arola

Antoni Arola, winner of Spain’s National Design Prize in 2003, designs lamps that soften light rather than show off the bulb. We specify his Santa & Cole pieces where a room needs calm, even light.

“Lámina where people work, Nimba where they rest.”

Our rule of thumb

Desks, counters and long tables

Lámina bounces LED light off a bent metal sheet, so it gives glare-free light over a desk, a kitchen counter or a long dining table, and the modules can run in a line.

Large rooms and entrances

Cirio is a circular chandelier of many small light sources, wide enough to anchor a lobby, a stair hall or a big living room.

Living rooms and bedrooms

  • Moaré: a mesh cylinder pendant whose layered texture shimmers when lit.
  • Nimba: a soft, cloud-like pendant for bedrooms and reading corners.
  • Shiro and Sin: table lamps that glow like a paper lantern or a floating ring.
