A cordless, rechargeable LED lamp that goes anywhere: press the bulb to switch it on and step it from 25% to 50% to 100%.

Bud, designed by Melissa Yip, frees a lamp from its cable. A translucent globe sits inside two petal-like shells, and the globe itself is the switch: press it once to turn Bud on, again to step through three brightness levels. A full charge gives up to 20 hours at the lowest setting, and the 1W warm-white LED makes it a soft, relaxing light rather than a task light. It stands 8" tall, so it is at home on a dinner table, a nightstand or a picnic blanket.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and Bud is one of the most giftable lamps we carry: cordless, playful and useful in every room. Innermost was founded in London in 1999 by designers Steve Jones and Russell Cameron, who started out in an old lighting factory in Wembley and went on to work with designers from around the world who had made London their home. Its pieces hang in hotels, restaurants and shops from London to Dubai. Innermost has since closed, so what we have is the remaining new stock; once a finish sells out we cannot reorder it.

Buy once: durability and care

Wipe the shell with a soft, damp cloth. Recharge before the battery runs completely flat to keep it healthy (our advice). Have a licensed electrician install hardwired fixtures.
