Produzione Privata Perseo 15 Wall Sconce, White Satin Murano Glass

A small bubble of white satin Murano glass on the wall, inspired by Japanese paper lanterns: the 15 cm Perseo sconce by Michele De Lucchi.

Perseo is named after the Greek hero Perseus. Its glass bubble is blown with great skill to recall the delicate form of Japanese paper lanterns, and its faceted surface nods to Isamu Noguchi’s light sculptures. This sconce is the 15 cm wall version of the family: a mouth-blown Murano glass diffuser in white satin finish, 5.9″ across and 6.3″ high, held on a slim metal arm. Made in Italy by Produzione Privata.

Who this is not for

Why we carry it

We’ve been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and we look for pieces with a real idea behind them and real hands in the making. Produzione Privata is the workshop label architect and designer Michele De Lucchi founded in 1990 with Sibylle Kicherer, to make experimental objects free of commission with skilled Italian craftspeople. Its laboratories work in glass, ceramics, wood and metal; the Murano pieces are blown one at a time, so each is similar but never identical.

Buy once: durability and care

Glass and metal made to last for decades. Switch off and let the lamp cool before cleaning. Dust the glass and metal with a soft dry cloth; for fingerprints, use a cloth lightly dampened with water (or a mild glass cleaner sprayed on the cloth, never on the lamp) and dry it. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
