Chelsea by James Bartlett takes its name and shape from a traditional English tea service: a spun-aluminum shade like an upturned teacup, matte outside with an antique gold interior that warms the light. The light falls both directly and indirectly for an even glow. Chelsea 18 (7.1") comes in white or black; Chelsea 40 (16.5") and Chelsea 56 (22") in white and gold. It takes an E26 LED bulb.

About the designer

James Bartlett designed some of Innermost’s most architectural pieces, Brixton, Doric and Chelsea among them. He tends to start from a building or a traditional object, a London turret, a Greek column or a tea service, and translate it into a clean, engineered lamp.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and Chelsea has the warmth of a classic and the clean lines of a modern pendant. Innermost was founded in London in 1999 by designers Steve Jones and Russell Cameron, who started out in an old lighting factory in Wembley and went on to work with designers from around the world who had made London their home. Its pieces hang in hotels, restaurants and shops from London to Dubai. Innermost has since closed, so what we have is the remaining new stock; once a finish sells out we cannot reorder it.

Buy once: durability and care

Dust with a soft, dry microfiber cloth; for fingerprints use a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. Never use abrasive pads, polish or solvent cleaners on the finish (our advice). Have a licensed electrician install hardwired fixtures.
