Where the Lusi 24 LED Flush Mount works in the house

Hallways and entries. Space fixtures evenly down the corridor so the pools of light overlap.

Closets, pantries and laundry rooms. A compact fixture gives even light on shelves without glare.

Bedrooms and offices. Pair it with lamps or sconces so the room is not lit by one ceiling source alone.

Room planner: size, height and placement

The numbers below come from the manufacturer's specifications and our own placement rules, worked out for the Lusi 24 LED Flush Mount.

• Room size: add the room’s length and width in feet; a fixture about that many inches across looks in proportion. At 23.8" the Lusi 24 suits rooms of roughly 11 × 13 ft (a bedroom, kitchen or home office)
• Ceiling clearance: 11.3" from the ceiling, which leaves about 85" of headroom under an 8 ft ceiling

Ceiling and table figures are our calculation for standard room dimensions, so measure your space. Have a licensed electrician install hardwired fixtures.

Pulling the room together

Put the ceiling light on a dimmer, add a lamp or sconce for evening, and match the finish to door hardware.

When another fixture is the better call

• Fully exposed outdoor locations: it is rated for covered outdoor spaces, not direct rain.

• Anyone who needs bright task light from one fixture: plan extra lighting.

Care, cleaning and upkeep

The LED is built in, so there are no bulbs to buy or replace. Clean crystal or glass with a soft, lint-free cloth, power off and cool; avoid ammonia and abrasive cleaners (our advice). Natural and hand-rubbed brass are living finishes that patina and warm with age; Visual Comfort notes a brass cleaner can restore an uneven patina. Dust the frame with a dry microfiber cloth, power off. Installation is hardwired, so use a licensed electrician.
