Counters, bars and dining tables are where pendants earn their keep. The Catena 57 LED Pendant is 0.9" wide and hangs with the bottom 30–36" above the surface, so it lights the surface without blocking the room.

Where the Catena 57 LED Pendant works in the house

Kitchen islands and breakfast bars. Hang them in a row centered on the island, with the bottom of each shade 30–36 inches above the counter. Space the centers to suit the island length so the row ends short of the overhang.

Dining tables and banquettes. Two or three over a table read as a set; keep the line centered and the lowest point about 30–36 inches above the top.

Bedsides, offices and entries. Singles or pairs replace table lamps beside a bed and free the nightstand, or mark a small entry or reading nook.

Keep the pendant row on its own dimmer and add recessed or under-cabinet light for tasks. Match the metal to the cabinet pulls or faucet and let the counter stools carry the second material.

When another fixture is the better call

• Low ceilings: the pendant itself is 57" tall, so plan where it hangs carefully under an 8-foot ceiling.
• Fully exposed outdoor locations: it is rated for covered outdoor spaces, not direct rain.

Care, cleaning and upkeep

The LED is built in, so there are no bulbs to buy or replace. Clean crystal or glass with a soft, lint-free cloth, power off and cool; avoid ammonia and abrasive cleaners (our advice). Natural and hand-rubbed brass are living finishes that patina and warm with age; Visual Comfort notes a brass cleaner can restore an uneven patina. Dust the frame with a dry microfiber cloth, power off. Installation is hardwired, so use a licensed electrician.
