The TR7 is one of the first lamps Tom Rossau designed, and its slim profile made it a favorite of architects and interior designers. The lamellas close around the bulbs, so the light comes through the material itself as a soft, indirect glow, whether you choose natural birch, white PC/PE nonwoven or white polypropylene. Three heights let you go from a compact 21.65" accent to a 57" column for a stairwell or double-height room.

About the designer

Tom Rossau grew up in Odsherred, the curving coastal landscape north-west of Copenhagen that has drawn painters for generations, and his first lamps appeared in 2005. Every Tom Rossau lamp is still built by hand in the company’s own workshop on Frederiksberg Allé in Copenhagen, by a single lamp builder who signs the card that comes with it.

Buy once: durability and care

Birch: Dust the birch strips with a soft, dry brush; keep the lamp away from water, steam and humid rooms, because moisture softens the veneer and can make stained colors bleed. Like all natural wood, the birch slowly develops a patina and may shift its shape very slightly over the years: Tom Rossau calls it a living material. White polypropylene: Dust the polypropylene with a soft brush or a low-suction vacuum with a brush head; a slightly damp cloth removes marks. The material stays white. White PC/PE nonwoven: Dust the PC/PE nonwoven with a soft brush or a low-suction vacuum with a brush head only: no water or cleaning liquids, which can damage its textured surface. The material stays white. Tom Rossau covers manufacturing defects for 2 years. Have a licensed electrician install hardwired fixtures.

Which TR7 pendant height should I choose?

The 21.65" suits standard ceilings and groups; the 44" and 57" are for stairwells, entrances and double-height rooms (our advice).

How many bulbs does the TR7 pendant take?

The 21.65" birch takes one E26 bulb; every other TR7 pendant takes two. Bulbs are not included; max 60W incandescent or 15W LED each.

How do I change the bulbs in the TR7 pendant?

Switch off and let it cool, then gently open the lamellas to reach the bulbs. No tools are needed.

Birch, PC nonwoven or polypropylene for the TR7?

Birch gives the warmest glow; both white materials give a brighter, cleaner light. Polypropylene can be wiped with a damp cloth, while PC nonwoven must stay completely dry.

Is the TR7 pendant dimmable?
