Use it on a nightstand, on a console or sideboard, or on a desk or side table. It plugs into a standard outlet. Nova lists final assembly as required.

Who this is not for

This is not for anyone who wants floor-level or overhead light; a table lamp lights its own corner, not the whole room.

Why we carry Nova of California

Nova started in 1923 in a Brooklyn factory and has been designing lighting ever since. Today the company is based in Venice Beach, California, and it still builds lamps around the idea its founders had: make a home warmer, cozier and easier to live in. We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and Nova earns its place for one reason: the proportions look expensive and the build is meant to stay in the house for years.

Care, bulbs and dimming

Dust with a dry cloth and skip harsh cleaners. Nova says a damp cloth is fine on clear or mirrored glass, and that a standard touch-up pen covers minor scratches on wood or gold leaf. The 14W A19 E26 light source comes with the lamp; for dimming, Nova recommends quality dimmable, flicker-free LEDs.

California Proposition 65: this product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm.

LED or incandescent?

Shop by lumens, not watts: lumens say how bright a bulb is, while watts only say how much power it pulls. The factory LED in this table lamp is 14W and puts out 1500 lumens, roughly the output of a 100W incandescent, using a fraction of the power and giving off far less heat. An incandescent bulb has a slightly rounder, warmer glow but runs hot and wears out sooner. If you ever swap bulbs, match the base type and pick a dimmable, flicker-free LED at 1500K so the light stays consistent. Our LED vs. incandescent bulb guide has a chart that matches old wattages to the right LED.
