Why we carry Nova of California

The Nova name goes back to 1923 and a Williamsburg, Brooklyn workshop. Mel Moskowitz moved west in 1956 to run the California side of the business, and the company now designs from Venice Beach under the Nova of California name. Dust with a dry cloth and skip harsh cleaners. Nova says a damp cloth is fine on clear or mirrored glass, and that a standard touch-up pen covers minor scratches on wood or gold leaf. The 14W A19 E26 light source is not included; for dimming, Nova recommends quality dimmable, flicker-free LEDs.

LED or incandescent?

Shop by lumens, not watts: lumens say how bright a bulb is, while watts only say how much power it pulls. The factory LED in this arc floor lamp is 14W and puts out 1500 lumens, roughly the output of a 100W incandescent, using a fraction of the power and giving off far less heat. An incandescent bulb has a slightly rounder, warmer glow but runs hot and wears out sooner.
