Best for

Mantels, bookshelves, dressing tables and holiday tables. At 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall it works alone or in a cluster of different decors.

Who this is not for

Anyone who wants a fresh or floral scent (Bois de Russie is woody and warm), or who cannot supervise an open flame. Not for buyers who need two eggs to match exactly, as hand decoration varies slightly.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led pieces since 2009. Bois de Russie is one of the most giftable things we carry: an objet d'art first, a candle second, and a piece people keep long after the wax is gone.

Why it is worth the investment

Ladenac Milano is the home-fragrance house of perfumer Patrick Douenat, who has spent more than 30 years in luxury perfumery and set the brand's style in Milan. Its candles and diffusers are made in Spain from proprietary formulas that build on a candle-making tradition Ladenac traces back to 1884, in facilities certified to ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental management). In 2025, Ladenac's Bois de Russie was named Best Home Fragrance at the Premios Academia del Perfume, awarded by Spain's Fundación Academia del Perfume.

Bois de Russie won Best Home Fragrance (Mejor Perfume de Hogar) at the XVIII Premios Academia del Perfume 2025; perfumer Patrick Douenat. At $125 for a rated 55 hours, the candle works out to about $2.27 per hour, and the hand-painted ceramic egg stays with you as a collectible keepsake.

Buy once: care and safety

Our advice, as the distributor does not publish care instructions: burn on a heat-safe surface away from drafts and anything flammable, trim the wick before relighting, never leave it unattended, and dust the ceramic with a soft dry cloth.
