The FontanaArte Yumi floor lamp is an LED arc lamp that reaches 98.4 in across the room to hang its light over a sofa, a lounge chair or a dining table, while its base stays out of the way against a wall or behind the furniture. Light quality and how it performs

Yumi is a lamp you sit under. The LEDs are recessed into the end of the arc and aim downward, so the light lands as a warm pool on a coffee table, a lap or a dining top rather than spreading across the ceiling. At 2400 lm it is bright enough to read, play cards or serve dinner by, and at 2700 K the colour is the soft, amber-leaning white of an evening lamp. A typical CRI above 90 keeps food, skin tones, fabrics and art looking true, which matters over a dining table.

The dimmer is included, so the same lamp can be a working light at full output and a low, intimate glow for conversation. Because the source is a thin LED strip inside the arc, you look up and see a clean line rather than a glaring bulb.

Size and placement

Yumi is a large-scale piece: 82.6 in (210 cm) high with a 98.4 in (250 cm) horizontal span from base to tip. Plan the room around the arc as well as the base.

• Over a sofa: set the base beside or behind one end of the sofa so the tip lands roughly over the seat or the coffee table in front of it. Allow for the full 98.4 in reach when you measure.
• Over a dining table: place the base at the end or side of the table so the light falls over the centre. As general guidance, keep at least 30 to 36 in of clear walkway around chairs, and check the base does not sit where a chair pulls back.
• Ceiling height: the arc peaks at 82.6 in, so it fits under standard 8 ft ceilings with room to spare, and in tall rooms it reads as a single sweeping line.
• Clearance: keep the arc clear of doors, tall shelving and ceiling fans, and leave space around the base so it is not knocked in a traffic path.

Care
