The FontanaArte Oort floor lamp is a floor-to-ceiling line of light: a slim tube of ribbed borosilicate glass, lit along its whole length by a flexible LED strip and held upright between a weighted base on the floor and a hook in the ceiling. It draws a single glowing vertical through a living room, a stairwell, a lobby or a shop, and gives soft, even 360-degree light in every direction. It is dimmable, remembers its last setting and runs from a plug-in power supply.

Light quality and how it performs
Oort lights all the way around. The LED strip inside the tube emits evenly through 360 degrees, and the inside of the borosilicate glass is ribbed, which softens and warms the light and casts a fine play of light and shadow on nearby walls. The outside of the tube stays smooth, so it is easy to wipe clean. At 2700 K with a typical CRI above 90, the colour is warm and true to skin tones, timber and textiles.
It is a mood and accent light rather than a reading lamp. The Small version (1700 lm) gives a gentle vertical glow; the Large (2660 lm) has a longer tube and enough output to add real background light to a room. Both are dimmable and come back on at the level you last chose.
Size and placement
Oort stands between floor and ceiling rather than on a stand. A counterweight sits on the floor, the glass tube floats in between, and a cable rises to a black nickel hook fixed in the ceiling. The maker's drawing shows a glass tube of 35 in (89 cm) to 58.2 in (148 cm) and cables of up to 98.4 in (250 cm), so it can be set up for typical residential ceilings and for taller spaces.
- Choose the size: Small for standard rooms and a slimmer accent; Large for taller ceilings, larger rooms or where you want more light.
- Beside seating: set it just beyond the end of a sofa or between a chair and a wall to add a vertical line to a low seating group.
- Corners and stairwells: a single glowing line emphasises height in corners, beside stairs and in double-height spaces.
- Ceiling fixing: plan the hook position before installing; it needs a secure fixing into the ceiling structure, and the base sits directly below it.
- Groups: several Oorts in a row or cluster make a light installation for lobbies, retail windows and restaurants.
Where it works
Living rooms and lofts. A slim vertical glow beside the sofa or in a corner adds height and warmth, and it takes almost no floor space.
Bedrooms. Dimmed low beside a bed or reading chair, it gives a gentle ambient light without a bulky lamp.
Stairwells, entrances and double-height spaces. Its long vertical line suits tall voids and makes a striking first impression in an entry.
Hotels, restaurants, retail and galleries. In lobbies, bars, restaurant dining rooms, shop windows and gallery spaces, single tubes or groups create a strong architectural rhythm of light while staying visually light.
Style and pairing
A pure line of glowing glass held by fine black cables and a small black base: Oort is graphic, architectural and very quiet, so it sits naturally in Modern, Minimalist and Contemporary interiors. It looks especially good against concrete, plaster and timber, and alongside low, soft seating where its vertical line provides contrast. Because it is so slender, it can be added to a finished room without crowding it.
Why choose Oort
- A floor-to-ceiling line of light with uniform 360-degree glow.
- Ribbed borosilicate glass for a warm, textured light that is easy to clean outside.
- Warm 2700 K LED with high colour rendering; dimmable with memory.
- Two sizes for standard and taller rooms.
- Almost no footprint, ideal for tight corners and clusters.
Care
Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the smooth outer surface of the glass tube with a soft cloth and mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth. Dust the base, cables and hook with a dry cloth. Do not hang anything from the tube or cables and avoid knocking the glass. The LED tube is replaceable; follow the maker's instructions. For dry indoor rooms only.
