FontanaArte Meridiano Table Lamp, Grey Fume Glass Lantern, LED, 17.2 in

The FontanaArte Meridiano table lamp is a 17.2 in glass lantern for sideboards, consoles, wide nightstands and hotel reception desks. A glowing inner column of painted Pyrex glass sits inside a smoky grey-fumé blown-glass capsule, so the light comes through soft and warm and the lamp looks like a lit lantern on the table. The integrated LED is bright enough to light a corner of the room, dims on the cord and simply plugs in.

Light quality and how it performs

The light in Meridiano passes through two layers of glass. Inside, a painted Pyrex cylinder turns the LED into a soft, even column of light; outside, a blown-glass capsule tinted grey-fumé tones it down and gives it depth. You see a warm lantern glow, never a bare LED point.

With 2900 lm on tap, the table version is unusually bright for a decorative lamp, so it can light a whole end of a room on a sideboard, and the included dimmer takes it down to a gentle glow for evenings. The warm 2700 K colour and a typical CRI above 90 show off wood grain, art and faces well. There are no bulbs to change.

Size and placement

At 17.2 in (44 cm) tall and 12.2 in (31 cm) across, Meridiano is compact in height but generous in width, a solid, sculptural presence rather than a tall, thin lamp.

• Sideboards and credenzas: set it off-centre with art above and a stack of books or a bowl on the other side.
• Consoles and entry tables: a lit lantern by the door gives a welcoming glow; allow a surface at least 14 in deep.
• Nightstands: on a wide nightstand it gives soft bedside light; its low height keeps the glow at mattress level.
• Desks and shelves: on a desk or open shelving, it adds atmosphere next to a dedicated task lamp.

Where it works

Living and dining rooms. On a sideboard or credenza it adds a warm, low light that makes dinners and evenings feel intimate.

Entries and hallways. A lantern-like glow on a console is one of the most welcoming ways to light an entrance.

Bedrooms. A soft, glare-free bedside light on a wide nightstand or dresser.

Hotels, restaurants and bars. On reception desks, concierge stations, bar backs, restaurant sideboards and lounge tables, Meridiano gives a refined, consistent glow that pairs well with the matching floor lamp. It needs only an outlet.

Style and pairing

Part of the Buratti brothers' "shape of light" family, the Meridiano table lamp shares its smoky ovoid capsule with the floor and suspension versions, so you can carry one look through a room or a whole project. The grey-fumé glass suits Modern and Contemporary schemes and adds warmth to Transitional rooms. It looks especially good on walnut, oak and lacquer, against tapestry, panelling or textured plaster, and alongside brass, smoked glass and bronze accessories.

Why choose Meridiano

• A glass lantern that gives soft, glare-free light.
• Integrated 2900 lm LED at 2700 K with high colour rendering.
• Dimmer on the cord for full light or a quiet glow.
• A low, sculptural form for sideboards, consoles and nightstands.
• Matches the Meridiano floor lamp for a coordinated scheme.

Care

Unplug before cleaning. Wipe the outer glass with a soft cloth and mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth; dust the metal fitting with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents, and lift the lamp by its base rather than the glass. For dry indoor rooms only.
