Light quality and how it performs

IO has two LED emitters, one aimed up and one aimed down, so it draws two warm fans of light on the wall rather than a single spot. The inside of the disc is always white to bounce as much light as possible, while the outside carries the colour. The mount turns on two axes, so you can rotate the disc a full 360 degrees and point the light sideways, diagonally or straight up and down; sliding the outer diffuser up or down opens or closes the beams. With 700 lumens in total at 2700 K and a high colour rendering index above 90, it is warm, accurate light that makes wood, skin and fabric look natural. It is a feature and reading-side light rather than a room's main source.

Size and placement

IO is small: 6.5 in (16.5 cm) tall and only 4.1 in (10.4 cm) off the wall, which makes it easy to fit where space is tight. As general guidance:

• Beside a bed: mount the centre about 4 to 4.5 ft (1.2 to 1.4 m) from the floor, roughly 6 to 12 in (15 to 30 cm) outside the edge of the headboard, and angle the disc so the lower beam falls onto the pillow area for reading.
• Along a corridor or stair: about 5.5 to 6 ft (1.7 to 1.8 m) to centre, with fixtures every 5 to 8 ft (1.5 to 2.4 m) to build a rhythm of light fans.
• Over a mirror or console: a pair either side of a mirror, a few inches above eye level, or one centred above a console.
• As a wall composition: group five to nine fixtures at varied heights and angles above a sideboard or sofa for a sculptural light installation.

Care
