The FontanaArte Daruma table lamp is a glowing white glass globe topped with a small lid, made to sit on nightstands, consoles, shelves and even the floor, where it fills a room with soft, even, all-round light. There is no shade and no visible bulb: the whole body of glossy blown glass lights up, so Daruma works as both a lamp and a sculptural object. Three sizes, from a compact 6.7 in to a statement 16.5 in, let you build a family group or choose one for the space you have.

Light quality and how it performs
Daruma is all diffuser. The glossy white blown glass spreads the light evenly in every direction, so the lamp glows like a lantern and lights the wall, ceiling and surface around it without hot spots. It gives ambient, mood light rather than a focused reading beam, which makes it especially good for evenings, bedrooms and hospitality spaces. Each size has a matching bulb rating: the Small takes up to 20W, the Medium up to 46W and the Large up to 100W, all with a standard E26 base. A warm-white LED bulb keeps the glass cool and gives a cosy, candle-like tone. It switches from the cord and is not dimmable.
Size and placement
The Small (6.7 in high, 6.3 in across) fits a bookshelf, a narrow nightstand or a bathroom-adjacent dressing table away from water. The Medium (11.4 in high, 11 in across) is the natural nightstand and console size, needing about 13 in of surface. The Large (16.5 in high, 15.7 in across) works on a sideboard, a wide console or directly on the floor beside a sofa or in a corner, where it becomes a glowing sculpture. Groups of two or three sizes, set slightly apart on a long surface or on the floor, are one of the most striking ways to use Daruma.
Where it works
Bedrooms. A Medium on each nightstand gives a soft, even glow for winding down, with no shade to dust or straighten.
Living rooms and libraries. Small lamps tucked into bookshelves, a Large on the floor beside an armchair, or a mixed group on a sideboard all add warmth and depth.
Entries and dining rooms. On a hall console or buffet, Daruma gives a welcoming light that looks good from every angle.
Hotels, restaurants and lounges. Its all-round glow and simple, recognisable form suit guest rooms, lobby consoles, lounge side tables, restaurant sideboards and spa receptions. Grouping sizes gives a designed look with just one product.
Style and pairing
Sergio Asti designed Daruma in 1968, and it carries the softness of late-1960s Italian design: a smooth glass form, a playful lid, nothing extra. It suits Mid-century and Modern rooms with walnut, teak and leather, and it brings warmth to Minimalist and Transitional spaces with plaster walls, linen and stone. Against a strongly coloured wall, the white glass glows even more vividly.
Why choose Daruma
- A design by Sergio Asti from 1968 in mouth-blown glossy white glass.
- Soft, even, all-round light with no shade and no visible bulb.
- Three sizes for shelves, nightstands, sideboards and floors.
- Beautiful in groups: mix sizes for a sculptural cluster.
Care
Switch off and let the glass cool before cleaning. Wipe the glass with a soft, dry cloth; for fingerprints, use a cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth, never onto the lamp. Keep moisture away from the socket and cord, and handle the glass with both hands when moving it. For dry indoor rooms only.
