FontanaArte Bianca Floor Lamp, Etched Glass Globe on Slim Stem, 69.8 in

The FontanaArte Bianca floor lamp is a 69.8 in (177 cm) standing lamp for living rooms, reading corners, bedrooms and hotel lounges, where a soft, room-filling glow is wanted beside a sofa or armchair. A large globe of mouth-blown milk-white glass, 19.6 in (50 cm) across, sits on a slender matt white stem and round base, and its etched surface of tiny grooves turns the light into a warm, enveloping halo. It is dimmable, so the same lamp moves easily from evening reading to a low, calm background light.

Light quality and how it performs

Bianca's glass is blown into a mould without any mechanical aid, then belt sanded and dipped in acid to give the silky surface that fine glassware is known for. The etched pattern of shallow dimples breaks the light up further, so the globe glows evenly with no hot spot and sends light out in every direction: up to the ceiling, across the room and down onto a side table. With an E26 bulb up to 116W it can light a corner of a living room on its own, and when dimmed it becomes a gentle background glow for the evening. For a warm, cosy feel choose a 2700 K bulb; for a slightly fresher light, 3000 K.

Size and placement

Bianca stands 69.8 in (177 cm) tall, with the globe at the top, 19.6 in (50 cm) across. As general guidance:

• Beside a sofa or armchair: place it just behind and to the side of the seat, so the globe sits above and slightly behind the shoulder of a seated person. This gives comfortable reading light without glare.
• Clearance: allow about 10 in (25 cm) of space around the centre of the globe so it is not knocked by passing traffic or crowded against a wall or curtain.
• Corners: a corner position lets the light bounce off two walls, making a small room feel larger.
• Pairs: two Bianca floor lamps either side of a sofa, a bed or a doorway make a calm, symmetrical arrangement.

The slim stem and round base keep the footprint small; it is the globe that needs the space.

Where it works

Living rooms and reading corners. Beside a sofa, sectional or lounge chair as both reading light and ambient glow.

Bedrooms. In a corner or beside a chair in the bedroom, for soft evening light instead of the overhead fixture.

Hotels, lounges and receptions. In guest suites, hotel lobbies, waiting areas and restaurant lounges, where a plug-in lamp can be placed and moved without electrical work. It belongs to a family with matching pendants, ceiling, wall and table lamps, so a whole project can share the same glass.

Style and pairing

Pure white glass and a matt white frame make Bianca a natural for Scandinavian and Minimalist interiors with oak floors, linen and boucle. In Modern and Contemporary rooms it softens darker walls, walnut furniture and leather. Pair it with natural textures and keep its background simple so the glowing globe stays the focal point.

Why choose Bianca

• A large, mouth-blown glass globe with a hand-finished etched pattern.
• Soft, room-filling, dimmable light.
• Slim stem and small base for a light visual footprint.
• Part of a complete family of matching lights.

Care

Unplug the lamp and let the glass cool before cleaning. Wipe the globe with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, then dry. A soft brush lifts dust from the etched pattern. Wipe the stem and base with a dry cloth. Take care when moving the lamp: lift it by the stem and base, never by the glass.
