EO Play Leopard Rug – Handmade Wool Kids Rug, 39 x 28 in

A handmade 100% wool rug drawn by Helkarava, the kind of kids’ rug that still looks like design when they’re grown.

The EO Play Leopard rug is warm, friendly and vibrant: the African fast runner, spots and all, as EO puts it. It is handmade in 100% soft thick wool, woven in precise colors and details, and made in India. It measures 101 × 71 cm (39.4 × 27.6 in), 2 cm (0.8 in) thick. EO (short for “Elements Optimal”) is a Danish design house founded in Copenhagen in 2013 by Nicole & Tor Vitner Servé. Its EO PLAY line is a luxury collection of design objects for children, made with independent designers from around the world.

Why we carry it

We’ve been curating design-led pieces since 2009, and most kids’ rugs are printed synthetics. EO’s carpets are handmade wool with real illustrators behind them. According to EO, all four were sold at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York from fall 2023.

Buy once: durability and care

EO designs for long-lasting quality, meant to be passed on. EO’s care advice: vacuum frequently; for dirt, dip a cotton cloth in a mild eco-friendly shampoo and water solution and rub in circular motions; for stains, use eco-friendly professional dry cleaning.

Frequently asked questions

What size is the EO Play Leopard rug?

101 × 71 cm (39.4 × 27.6 in), 2 cm (0.8 in) thick. It’s a bedside or play-corner size, not a room-size rug.

What is the Leopard rug made of?

It is handmade in 100% soft, thick wool, woven in precise colors and details, and made in India.

How do I clean the EO Leopard rug?

EO recommends vacuuming frequently. For dirt, dip a cotton cloth in a mild eco-friendly shampoo and water solution and rub in circular motions; for stains, use an eco-friendly professional dry cleaner.

Will the Leopard rug slip on a wood floor?

The distributor doesn’t say whether it has a non-slip backing, so our advice is to use a thin rug pad on hard floors, especially where children run.

Who designed the Leopard rug?

Helkarava, a Paris-based illustrator and comics artist from the South of France.

Which other EO animal rugs can I buy here?

We carry all four EO Play carpets: Leopard plus Zebra, Bear, Panda, all the same size and price.
