The Standard Original Pendant is Coolicon’s Original 1933™ Design, the vented enamel shade that lit British factories and workshops from 1933. The name comes from the idea behind its patent, cooling by convection: the open gallery lets heat escape, so the shade also throws soft light upward while the white enamel reflector sends a clear task light down. Each shade is enamelled by hand in the UK and carries the hand-applied Coolicon badge.

Buy once: durability and care

Vitreous enamel is glass fused to steel, so the color won’t fade, even in a sunny room, and the surface shrugs off kitchen steam. According to Coolicon, a minor chip won’t lead to rust. To clean, switch the power off and wipe with a soft cloth; for stubborn marks, put a little glass cleaner on the cloth, never on the shade, and keep it off the badge and away from the socket.
