UZU is hand loomed in soft viscose on a cotton backing, about half an inch thick. Its pattern combines straight lines and circles, echoing the swirling currents raked into the gravel of Kyoto’s dry gardens. Choose Zinc (cool gray), Taupe or Beige, in Small (78.8" × 55.2", about 4.6 × 6.6 ft), Medium (94.6" × 63", about 5.2 × 7.9 ft) or Large (118.2" × 78.8", about 6.6 × 9.8 ft). The viscose is OEKO-TEX certified, and slight tone variations come from the hand loom.

The designer: Kazushige Miyake

Kazushige Miyake (born 1973) graduated in design from Tama Art University in Tokyo, worked as a product designer in Great Britain, returned to Japan in 1999 and founded Miyake Design in 2005. He favors simple, unadorned forms and believes every object carries an atmosphere as well as a shape. He has won the iF, Red Dot and Good Design awards and serves on the Good Design and iF juries. His other blomus work includes the MIYABI vases, KOYOI glasses and SUKOYA shelves.
