Besa Matrix Square LED Semi-Flush Mount Ceiling Light, Indirect

A laser-cut square aluminum body that hides a 15W LED array behind a frosted face and bounces 1,450 lumens off the ceiling: indirect, glare-free light in Black or White.

• ✓ Integrated 15W LED
• ✓ 1,450 lumens
• ✓ Indirect glow
• ✓ ELV dimmable
• ✓ Black or White
• ✓ Damp rated

The Besa Matrix is an LED semi-flush ceiling light composed of a laser-cut and formed square aluminum body on a fabricated mounting plate. An inner LED array sits behind a frosted acrylic overlay on the concealed face, so you never see a bare source: the light reflects off the ceiling for a pleasing indirect glow with the square shape outlined in light. Choose Black for a graphic silhouette or White to let the halo float. It is sized for hallways, entries, bedrooms, home offices, kitchens and bathrooms, and works in pairs or runs along a corridor.

The LED is integrated: 15W, 1,450 lumens at 3000K, CRI 80+, rated 30,000 hours and ELV dimmable, with no bulb to buy or change. At 12 inches across and 4 inches deep it stays close to the ceiling, and the heavy-gauge aluminum is powder-coated in Black or White. Besa makes the same idea as the Cue (round) and as a wall sconce.

Best for

Use the Matrix in hallways, entries, bedrooms, home offices, kitchens and bathrooms, especially where a glowing shape on the ceiling beats a downlight. Pair it with the Besa Cue (round) or the matching Matrix wall sconce. Related: Cue (round), Belu ribbed drum, Pahu 12 double glass semi-flush.

Who this is not for

• Outdoor porches, soffits or covered patios: it is rated for damp interior locations only.
• Rooms that need strong downward task light: the Matrix lights the ceiling indirectly, so it reads as ambient light.
• Anyone who wants a replaceable bulb or a cooler color temperature: the LED is integrated and fixed at a warm 3000K.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and Matrix is architectural lighting at a home scale: no visible lamp, no diffuser, just a square of light on the ceiling that makes a hallway feel designed. Besa Lighting pairs American design with European glass artisanship: its shades are hand-blown by skilled artisans using techniques passed down for generations, then hand-inspected at Besa’s factory in Ohio for color, pattern, thickness and size before they ship.

Buy once: durability and care

Switch off and let it cool, then wipe the aluminum and the frosted face with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners (our advice). The LED is integrated and rated for 30,000 hours. Installation by a licensed electrician is recommended; use an ELV dimmer.

Frequently asked questions

What are the dimensions of the Besa Matrix?

It measures 12 in. L x 12 in. W x 4 in. H, per Besa’s spec sheet, so it sits about 4 inches below the ceiling.

How does the Besa Matrix light the room?

Indirectly. The LED array faces the ceiling behind a frosted acrylic overlay, so the light bounces off the mounting surface and the square body is outlined in a soft glow. You never see a bare source.

How bright is the Besa Matrix?

The integrated 15W LED gives 1,450 lumens at 3000K with CRI 80+ and is rated 30,000 hours. It is ELV dimmable, so use an electronic low-voltage dimmer.

Is the Besa Matrix suitable for a bathroom ceiling?

Yes. Besa rates it for damp locations, interior use only, so it suits bathroom, laundry and powder-room ceilings. It is not rated for outdoor ceilings or direct water spray.

Black or White: which Besa Matrix finish should I choose?

Black reads as a graphic square on a white ceiling and suits modern and industrial rooms; White lets the body disappear so only the glow shows. Both are powder-coated heavy-gauge aluminum.

How do I install the Besa Matrix?

It is hardwired and installs directly to a standard 4" octagonal outlet box, centered on the fixture. Besa’s spec sheet is linked above, and we recommend a licensed electrician.
