Where the Fielle Medium LED Wall Sconce works in the house

Hallways and stairs. Space them evenly along the wall so the pools of light overlap, and check the projection against the clear width of the corridor.

Bedrooms. One on each side of the bed replaces table lamps, keeps the nightstand clear and puts reading light where it is needed.

Living rooms, dining rooms and baths. Flanking a mirror, a fireplace or a console, they add soft ambient light without taking floor space.

Room planner: size, height and placement

The numbers below come from the manufacturer's specifications and our own placement rules, worked out for the Fielle Medium LED Wall Sconce.

• Mounting height: about 60–66" from the floor, close to eye level (our advice)
• Either side of a mirror: one on each side, centered about 60–66" high and roughly 30–40" apart
• Down a hallway: one every 8–10 ft (our rule of thumb)
• How far it sticks out: 3.9" — within the 4" limit for walkways and hallways

Ceiling and table figures are our calculation for standard room dimensions, so measure your space. Have a licensed electrician install hardwired fixtures.

Pulling the room together

Put sconces on their own dimmer, repeat the metal in the mirror frame or cabinet hardware, and let the ceiling fixture and a table lamp supply the other two layers.

For commercial and multi-unit projects

For hotel corridors, restaurants and multifamily lobbies, we help you specify a spacing pattern, one finish and one dimming scheme across floors.

Care, cleaning and upkeep

The LED is built in, so there are no bulbs to buy or replace. Natural and hand-rubbed brass are living finishes that patina and warm with age; Visual Comfort notes a brass cleaner can restore an uneven patina. Dust the frame with a dry microfiber cloth, power off. Installation is hardwired, so use a licensed electrician.
