Fort Knox is the Viso pendant we suggest when you want one clean globe of light that scales to the room. The 6 inch version is spun metal; the three larger sizes have polycarbonate bodies and take standard E26/E27 lamps, so you are not tied to a proprietary bulb.

Every Fort Knox arrives with a black canopy and a black cable. The finish you pick, Copper, Gold, Silver or Smoke, decides whether it reads warm, metallic or moody.

The designer and the story

Fort Knox comes from the Viso team in Toronto. Viso Design Studio, founded in 1999, designs and fabricates fixtures with architects and interior designers, and Fort Knox has been used in projects including the Beecroft Building, Host on Howard and the Ritz-Carlton Residences.

It is decorative light, not task light, and the larger bodies are polycarbonate, so it is not for anyone who wants glass or stone. It is also not for anyone who needs delivery in days.

What size Fort Knox suits my space?

The 6 inch works as a bedside or bar accent, the 11.8 inch suits an entry or a trio over a counter, the 15.7 inch works over a small table, and the 19.7 inch is the single statement size for a dining table or stair hall. Viso draws every size with a 117 inch overall drop, so confirm the drop against your ceiling height before ordering.

What bulbs does it take, and can it be dimmed?

The 6 inch takes a G4 bi-pin lamp (20 W halogen or 2 W LED). The 11.8 inch takes an E26/E27 lamp up to 60 W, and the 15.7 and 19.7 inch take an E26/E27 lamp up to 75 W. Dimming depends on the lamp and dimmer you choose, so match the two.

What is included, and how is it installed?

Each pendant comes with a black canopy and a black cable. Viso publishes an installation manual, linked under Downloads, and we recommend a licensed electrician hang it.

How do I choose between Copper, Gold, Silver and Smoke?

Copper and Gold are warm metallic finishes that sit well with wood, leather and warm paint. Silver is cooler and pairs with chrome, steel and white. Smoke is the darkest and shows best against light walls.
