Seat frame and base finishes

The Tiger Wire Chair sets the welded Tiger seat on a solid steel wire sled, two continuous runners instead of four legs. The sled spreads weight along the floor, so the chair slides back without catching and sits steadily on rugs and uneven tile. Mix the seat frame and sled finishes, for example a black seat on chrome runners, or match them for a single-line look in a Modern or Mid-Century dining room. The pad is removable PPM-FR faux leather and the chair carries 300 lb.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.

What is a sled base?

Instead of four legs, the chair stands on two continuous loops of solid steel wire. It spreads weight over the floor and slides more easily on rugs.

Can the seat and base be different colors?

Yes. You choose the seat frame finish and the sled finish separately, for example a black seat on a chrome sled.

What is the seat height?

The seat is 19 in high, for standard 29 to 30 in dining tables.

Is it good on rugs?

Yes. The runners rest along their full length, so the chair does not sink or tip on a rug the way narrow legs can.

Why do the prices differ?

A black powder-coated seat frame costs less than a chrome, brass or gold plated one, and a brass or gold sled adds a surcharge over chrome or black.

Can it go outside?

With a black seat frame and black sled you can ask for the cataphoresis coating and an outdoor fabric pad for year-round outdoor use. Plated finishes cannot be coated.
