Base finishes

The Prisma Piston stool puts the faceted Prisma seat on a gas-lift column, so one stool adjusts from counter to bar height and swivels all the way around. A half-moon footrest wraps the front of the column, giving a place for your feet without crowding the back of the base. Choose a round base in polished or brushed stainless steel, black, polished gold or brushed brass, or a square base in brushed stainless steel. It is a practical choice for households with mixed counter heights, for kitchens shared by people of different heights, and for Modern and Contemporary bars.

Planning notes

• The gas piston covers counter and bar height: about 24 to 26 in of seat height for 35 to 37 in counters, and 29 to 31 in for 40 to 42 in bar tops.
• The base stays put while the seat swivels, so it suits hard floors without glides wearing in.
• Leave about 24 in of counter edge per stool so swiveling seats do not bump.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.

The gas piston moves the seat between 22 and 32 in, which covers both counter and bar heights.

What is a half footrest?

A curved footrest that wraps the front half of the column. It gives a foot ledge while keeping the back of the base open.

Round or square base?

The round base is 16.5 in across and comes in five finishes. The square base is 17.7 in on each side in brushed stainless steel.
