Seat and Back. Natural rattan cane is hand-woven plant fibre with a classic open mesh. Synthetic cane webbing copies the look in a weather-resistant woven material that suits outdoor use. The optional seat cushion is an outdoor fabric that is waterproof, durable and fade resistant.

Frame

The Pierre J. teak arm stool raises the collection's compass-leg design to counter or bar height and keeps the armrests, so you sit held in rather than perched. The tall solid teak frame is braced with a low rail that doubles as a footrest, and the back and seat are woven in natural rattan cane or weather-resistant synthetic cane webbing. Grade A Indonesian teak makes it suitable for an outdoor kitchen or a covered bar as well as an indoor island. Choose a 26 in counter seat or a 30 in bar seat; both are rated for 350 lb and arrive assembled.

Planning notes

• Choose Counter (26 in seat) for 35 to 37 in counters; choose Bar (30 in seat) for 40 to 42 in bar tops.
• Allow about 24 to 26 in of counter per stool because of the arms.
• Check that the arm height clears the underside of your counter if you want stools to tuck in.
• Pick synthetic cane webbing for stools that stay outdoors.

Care

Solid teak is naturally oily and weather resistant. Indoors, dust it and wipe it with a damp cloth. Outdoors, rinse it with mild soapy water now and then; left untreated, teak weathers to a silver-grey patina, or a teak oil restores the honey tone. Keep natural cane out of standing water and bring it under cover in heavy rain or winter; synthetic cane webbing takes the weather better. Wash the outdoor cushion cover with mild soap and let it air dry.

Frequently asked questions

Counter or bar height?

The counter stool has a 26 in seat for 35 to 37 in counters. The bar stool has a 30 in seat for 40 to 42 in bar tops.

Will the arms slide under my counter?

The arms are 32.7 in high on the counter stool and 36.5 in on the bar stool. Compare that with the underside of your counter.

Is there a footrest?

Yes. The lower rail between the teak legs works as a footrest.

Can it go outside?

Yes. The solid teak frame is built for indoor and outdoor use; choose synthetic cane for exposed spots.

Why does the price change?

Natural cane is the base price; synthetic cane webbing costs a little more; the outdoor seat cushion is an add-on. Counter and bar are priced the same.

How much weight does it hold?

It is rated for 350 lb.
