The Hrant is a square-armed teak club chair with a Scandinavian, retro outline: a low slatted seat, a gently reclined slatted back and broad flat arms. Everything is solid grade A teak with mortise and tenon joints, so it is heavy-duty enough for a resort or restaurant terrace and still easy to live with at home. The 15 in seat is deliberately low for lounging; add the outdoor seat cushion for extra comfort, or leave the teak bare for a chair that dries in minutes after rain.

Care

Grade A teak is a naturally oily, weather-resistant hardwood. Left outdoors it slowly weathers to a soft silver-grey, and the grain may rise slightly after the first few soakings. Clean it once or twice a year with a soft brush, mild soap and water; never use a power washer, which erodes the surface. Teak cannot be painted or varnished. For winter storage use a dry shed or garage, and do not move the piece straight from the cold into a heated room, as sudden changes in temperature and humidity can split the wood.
