Base finishes

Gakko Slide sets the folded-back Gakko shell on a continuous steel sled, two runners that rest flat on the floor instead of four leg tips. The sled spreads the load, so the chair slides in and out smoothly on rugs and carpet and does not dig into soft floors, and it gives the chair a light, floating profile. Chrome is bright and Modern; black is more graphic and hides scuffs. Rated for 300 lb, it is a natural choice for conference rooms and restaurant banquettes as well as the dining table at home.

• The 17.5 in seat suits 28 to 30 in tables.
• Sled bases slide easily on rugs; on hard floors the plastic caps prevent scratching.
• The 22.5 in depth is a bit more than a four-leg chair; leave about 36 in behind the table edge to pull out.
• Choose black for heavy commercial use where scuffs would show on chrome.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.
