Seat upholstery. Faux leather is the entry option. PPM, PPM-S and PPM-FR are polyurethane performance leathers that wipe clean; the beige boucle is a soft looped fabric. Camira Blazer is a contract-grade wool, and genuine leather is the top tier. Screens show color slightly differently than real life.

Base finishes

The Eiffel Sled sets the upholstered Eiffel shell on a continuous sled base: two runners on the floor, joined by a frame that loops up behind the back. Because the chair rests on runners instead of four points, it slides easily over rugs and carpet and spreads its weight on soft floors, which makes it a good pick for dining rooms with an area rug under the table. Choose polished stainless steel for a crisp, Modern look, or brass for a warmer gold tone. The seat has a steel frame with S-shaped springs and molded foam, finished with a removable slipcover.

Planning notes

• The 17 in seat height fits 29 to 30 in dining tables.
• The runners need a flat floor; on very thick rugs, let the rug extend at least 24 in past the table edge so the chair stays on it when pulled out.
• Allow about 24 in of table edge per chair.
• Polished stainless steel is the more forgiving finish for heavy commercial use.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.
