Leg finishes

The Dervish Wood armchair sets the rounded Dervish tub seat on four splayed legs of solid beech stained to a walnut tone, the warmest and most traditional way to put this shape at a dining table. With no swivel and no metal in the frame, it reads Mid-Century and suits wood tables, rugs and quieter rooms. The arms sit low enough at 25.5 in to slide under most table aprons, and the wraparound back gives real support through a long dinner. Inside, a steel frame with S-shaped springs is molded in polyurethane foam and dressed in a zippered slipcover.

Planning notes

• Seat height is 18.5 in, which suits standard 29 to 30 in dining tables.
• Check that your table apron clears the 25.5 in arm height if you want the chairs to tuck in.
• At 24 in wide, plan about 26 to 28 in of table edge per chair.
• Add felt pads to the leg tips on hard floors that scratch easily.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Dust the wood with a dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners. Wood, leather and fabric vary naturally in grain and shade from piece to piece.

Does the Dervish Wood armchair swivel?

No. The four solid beech legs are fixed. If you want a turning seat in wood, look at the Dervish Pyramid swivel armchair.
