The Balboa is an eight-sided teak dining table about 47 in across, sized for four chairs on a patio, deck or garden terrace. A 2 in umbrella hole with a brass cap sits in the center, so a market umbrella can shade the whole table, and the cap closes the hole neatly when the umbrella is down. The top is slatted solid grade A teak on a sturdy cross-braced pedestal frame built with mortise and tenon joints, so it stands steady on stone or decking. The octagon shape lets chairs tuck in at even spacing with no corners to bump into, and drop leaves let the top fold down for compact storage.

Care

Grade A teak is a naturally oily, weather-resistant hardwood. Left outdoors it slowly weathers to a soft silver-grey, and the grain may rise slightly after the first few soakings. Clean it once or twice a year with a soft brush, mild soap and water; never use a power washer, which erodes the surface. Teak cannot be painted or varnished. For winter storage use a dry shed or garage, and do not move the piece straight from the cold into a heated room, as sudden changes in temperature and humidity can split the wood.
