Seat upholstery. Faux leather is the entry option. PPM-FR, S-PPM and PPM are polyurethane performance leathers that wipe clean; the off-white boucle is a soft looped fabric; Camira Era and Camira Blazer wool are woven contract fabrics. Screens show color slightly differently than real life.

Base finishes

The Avanos Wire stool rests the upholstered shell on a base bent from solid steel wire: slender legs with a wire footrest, a frame you can see straight through. That transparency keeps a run of stools from blocking sightlines across an open kitchen, and solid wire is tougher than it looks. Finishes include chrome, black, white and bone, plus gold plate at a small upcharge, so the base can match the hardware, the pendants or the cabinets. Rated for 300 lb, it is one of the better-value Avanos stools.

Planning notes

• Choose Counter for 34 to 36 in counters; choose Bar for 40 to 41 in bar tops.
• Allow about 23 to 24 in per stool.
• Leave 10 to 12 in between seat and counter underside.
• White and bone wire suit light kitchens; black and chrome are the most forgiving.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.

Counter or bar height?

The counter stool has a 23.5 in seat for 34 to 36 in counters; the bar stool has a 28.5 in seat for 40 to 41 in bar tops.

Is the wire base strong enough?

Yes. It is solid steel wire and the stool is rated for 300 lb.

Is there a footrest?

Yes. A wire footrest is built into the base.

Does it swivel?

Why do the prices differ?
