Seat upholstery. Faux leather is the entry option. PPM-FR, S-PPM and PPM are polyurethane performance leathers that wipe clean; the off-white boucle is a soft looped fabric; Camira Era and Camira Blazer wool are woven contract fabrics. Screens show color slightly differently than real life.

Leg finishes

The Avanos PR Wood stool is the most furniture-like way to seat an island: four solid wood legs joined by wooden rungs, with the upholstered Avanos shell set on top. The rungs brace the frame and give a natural place to rest your feet, which is why this style has stood up in pubs and bistros for generations. Five woods are offered: walnut-finish or natural beech, wenge-finished teak, sungkai in a white oak finish, and solid American walnut. It suits Transitional and Farmhouse kitchens as easily as Mid-Century ones.

Planning notes

• Choose Counter for 36 to 37 in counters; choose Bar for 41 to 42 in bar tops. These seats are a little taller than most stools.
• Allow about 24 in per stool along the counter.
• Leave 10 to 12 in between seat and counter underside.
• Use felt pads on wood or stone floors.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Dust the wood with a dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners. Wood, leather and fabric vary naturally in grain and shade from piece to piece.

Counter or bar height?

The counter stool has a 25 in seat, best for 36 to 37 in counters. The bar stool has a 30.5 in seat for 41 to 42 in bar tops.

Is it solid wood?

Yes. The legs and rungs are solid wood: beech, teak, sungkai or American walnut, depending on the finish you choose.

Is there a footrest?

Yes. The wooden rungs between the legs act as the footrest.

Does it swivel?

Why do the prices differ?
