Smooch 47" Concrete Indoor/Outdoor Round Dining Table by TOV Furniture

An indoor/outdoor round dining table from TOV Furniture in 2 colors, seating about 4–6 (our guide).

The Smooch 47" Concrete Indoor/Outdoor Round Dining Table is an indoor/outdoor round dining table made of concrete with a faux marble or travertine finish (by color), offered in White Marble and Travertine. Cast concrete gives it real heft and a stone-like surface. It measures 47"W x 47"D x 30.2"H with a round top, and TOV rates the top for up to 230 lb. At 30.2" it is standard dining height (28–30"), so it pairs with dining chairs whose seat is about 18–20" high (our guide: 10–12" between seat and tabletop; most dining chairs sit 17–19"). By our guide (about 24" of table edge per person, 30" for roomier seating) it seats about 4–6 people. Round tables seat a little more snugly toward the center, so chairs without arms fit the most people. TOV rates it for indoor and outdoor use and recommends covering it in bad weather or when not in use.

Best for

Best for dining rooms and kitchens indoors as well as patios, decks and covered porches. Leave about 36" between the table edge and the wall on every side (42–48" where people walk behind seated diners), plan about 24" of table edge per person, and hang a pendant 30–36" above the top (our guide). A round dining table has no corners, so everyone can see and talk to everyone, and it fits a square room, a breakfast nook or the space under a round pendant (our guide).

Who this is not for

• Counter or bar stools: at 30.2" it is dining height; counter stools need a 35–37" counter and bar stools a 40–42" bar (our guide).
• Rooms smaller than about 10' x 10': the table needs about 36" of clearance on every side for chairs to pull out (our guide).
• Regularly seating more than 6: that is about the limit at ~24" per person (our guide).
• Anyone who wants a stain-proof surface: concrete is porous and should be wiped quickly and used with coasters and placemats (our advice).
• Homes with tight stair turns or small elevators: it travels by freight (LTL) in 2 boxes, and the largest box measures 28.5"W x 28.5"D x 38.9"H.
• Anyone who wants to leave it uncovered in all weather: TOV recommends covering it during bad weather or when not in use.
