Nolan 56" Wood Round Dining Table by TOV Furniture

A round dining table from TOV Furniture in 2 colors, seating about 5–7 (our guide).

The Nolan 56" Wood Round Dining Table is a round dining table made of ash veneer, iron, MDF and rubberwood, offered in Natural and Black. Ash shows a straight, even wood grain and the wood construction adds warmth and grain. It measures 56"W x 56"D x 30.3"H with a round top, and TOV rates the top for up to 160 lb. At 30.3" it is standard dining height (28–30"), so it pairs with dining chairs whose seat is about 18.5–20.5" high (our guide: 10–12" between seat and tabletop; most dining chairs sit 17–19"). TOV: seats 6. By our guide (about 24" of table edge per person, 30" for roomier seating) it seats about 5–7 people. Round tables seat a little more snugly toward the center, so chairs without arms fit the most people.

Best for

Best for dining rooms and open-plan kitchens. Leave about 36" between the table edge and the wall on every side (42–48" where people walk behind seated diners), plan about 24" of table edge per person, and hang a pendant 30–36" above the top (our guide). A round dining table has no corners, so everyone can see and talk to everyone, and it fits a square room, a breakfast nook or the space under a round pendant (our guide).

Who this is not for

• Counter or bar stools: at 30.3" it is dining height; counter stools need a 35–37" counter and bar stools a 40–42" bar (our guide).
• Rooms smaller than about 11' x 11': the table needs about 36" of clearance on every side for chairs to pull out (our guide).
• Regularly seating more than 7: that is about the limit at ~24" per person (our guide); TOV says it seats 6.
• Homes with tight stair turns or small elevators: it travels by freight (LTL) in 2 boxes, and the largest box measures 25"W x 25.2"D x 32.5"H.
• Outdoor use: this is an indoor table; TOV makes separate indoor/outdoor concrete dining tables.
