Best for

Why Modern Lantern’s battery is different

• It comes out, the lamp stays put. The battery is hidden in the base and clicks out like a camera battery. Charge it on the wall charger while the lamp stays on the table.
• No downtime. Keep a spare pack charged and swap in seconds. That is why hotels and restaurants use these lamps.
• Serviceable, not disposable. Many cordless lamps seal the battery inside, so when it ages the whole lamp goes. Here the battery, bulb and charger are replaceable parts.
• Real power. 12V lithium-ion cells up to 7000 mAh, rated for 750+ charge cycles, driving an efficient 12V LED.
• Proven and protected. The removable battery system is covered by US Patent 9,347,633; the wall charger is UL listed and works on 100–240V (a plug adapter is needed outside the US).

Who this is not for

• Outdoor spaces exposed to rain: this lamp is rated for indoor use.
• Anyone who wants bright overhead-style light: a table lamp gives warm, local light.
• Anyone who needs it within days: each ceramic is custom built and ships in 2–3 weeks.

Why we carry it

We’ve been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and Modern Lantern is the cordless line we trust: a family company in Fort Worth, Texas, making rechargeable lamps since 2011, with a patented battery that you can take out, swap and replace. It solves the classic problem of a beautiful table with no outlet near it.

Buy once: durability and care

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Use only Modern Lantern batteries, bulbs and chargers. Because the battery, bulb and charger are replaceable, the lamp itself can serve for many years.
