The Maxim Spectre wall sconce is a transitional fixture for a hallway, a stairway, a living room wall or either side of a bed. It is 6 in (15.2 cm) wide and 24 in (61 cm) high and sits 3 in (7.6 cm) off the wall, with built-in LED, in Black / Natural Aged Brass.

The LED is built in, so there are no bulbs to replace, and it gives 1360 lumens, with a color temperature you set at install. It installs with the light facing up or down: up for a soft wash on the wall, down for reading and walkway light. It is ADA compliant at 3 in (7.6 cm) deep, so it suits corridors, hotel rooms and other commercial spaces. Maxim rates it for Triac or ELV at 120V dimming. Clear Ribbed glass softens the light and cuts glare at eye level. The Black / Natural Aged Brass finish fits Transitional schemes.

Where it works best

In a hallway or living room, center each sconce at roughly eye level, about 5 ft 6 in (168 cm) up, with 8 to 10 ft between fixtures. Next to a bed, place it 2 to 2.5 ft over the mattress top so the light falls on a book. On a stairway, keep each sconce the same height above the treads. Either side of a bathroom mirror, mount them at about eye level, 36 to 40 in apart, for even light on the face.

Who this is not for

It is damp rated, so a bathroom or covered porch is fine, but not a spot exposed to rain or shower spray.
