Where it works best

Size it to the room: up to 75 sq ft takes a fan of 36 in or less; 76 to 144 sq ft, 36 to 44 in; 144 to 225 sq ft, 50 to 54 in; 225 to 400 sq ft, 56 to 72 in; a larger space takes a bigger fan or two. Keep the blades at least 7 ft above the floor, ideally 8 to 9 ft, and at least 18 in from walls. On a ceiling taller than 9 ft, add a downrod of about 6 in for each extra foot of height.

Who this is not for

It is dry rated, so it is not for a porch, a patio or a bathroom. The 60 in span is for a large room; in a bedroom under 12 x 12 ft, choose a smaller fan. With its downrod it hangs below the ceiling; on a ceiling under 8 ft, choose a hugger fan.
