Compass 2-Light Flush Mount, 15.75 in, Antique Pecan / Black, by Maxim

The Maxim Compass flush mount is a transitional fixture sized for a hallway, a bedroom, a closet, a kitchen or a laundry room. It comes at 15.75 in (40 cm) wide, with 2 lights, in Antique Pecan / Black.

Each socket takes an E26 Medium bulb up to 60W. A 2700K to 3000K LED bulb keeps a bedroom or hallway warm; 3500K to 4000K suits a kitchen, laundry room or closet. The Antique Pecan / Black finish fits Transitional schemes.

Where it works best

A flush mount sits tight to the ceiling, so it suits ceilings of 8 ft and lower, where a hanging fixture would cut into headroom. For a room, add its length and width in feet; the total in inches is a good diameter (a 10 x 12 ft bedroom takes about a 22 in fixture). A hallway or closet usually needs 11 to 14 in; in a long hallway, space fixtures about 8 to 10 ft apart.

Who this is not for

It is damp rated, so a covered porch or bathroom is fine, but not a spot exposed to rain. Bulbs are sold separately.

Why we carry Maxim

We carry Maxim because the line covers traditional, transitional and modern schemes with consistent finishes across chandeliers, pendants, sconces and vanity lights, so one family can light a whole floor.

Care and installation

Dust with a soft, dry cloth. A qualified electrician should make the connection. Assembly sheet: 27570 (PDF).

Frequently asked questions

What size room is the Compass flush mount right for?

The 15.75 in size suits a room of about 8 x 7 ft, a hallway or a closet.

Will it work with a low ceiling?

Yes. It is 8.75 in (22.2 cm) tall at most, so on an 8 ft ceiling it leaves about 87.25 in of clearance below.

Does it need special bulbs, and can it dim?

It takes E26 Medium bulbs up to 60W, sold separately.

Can I use it in a bathroom or on a porch?

Yes, in a bathroom away from direct spray or on a covered porch. It is damp rated.
