Mate Mono Horn Bag, Collapsible Seamless Knit Clutch
Mate Mono Horn Bag, Collapsible Seamless Knit Clutch
Couldn't load pickup availability
A clutch knitted in one seamless piece: flat and square when folded, a bright diamond when you carry it. Made in Japan by Mate Mono.
The Horn Bag is made without a single cut. A special knitting machine forms the whole bag in one piece from Komatsu Matere’s own processed yarn, then the finished bag is dyed, a process that shrinks the knit and gives it a dense, springy texture and bright color. Because nothing is cut away, nothing is wasted. Folded, it is a flat square that slips into a suitcase; carried by its handle, it opens into a diamond. It is just right for a wallet and phone on short outings. About 10.24″ × 10.24″.

Why we carry it
We’ve been curating design-led pieces since 2009, and we look for objects that are well made, honest about their materials and a pleasure to use. Mate Mono (mate-mono) is the product brand of Komatsu Matere, the textile dyeing and finishing company founded in Ishikawa, Japan, in 1943. Its idea is to waste as little material as possible: some bags are made from surplus or offcut industrial fabrics, others are knitted in one piece so nothing is cut away, and each design leans on the company’s own dyeing and finishing know-how.
Buy once: durability and care
Spot-clean with a cloth moistened only with water, using a mild dish or laundry detergent if needed. Blot the stain with a clean part of the cloth, working from the outside in, rinse with cool water and lay flat to dry. If a stain persists, submerge the bag in cool water, swish and brush lightly, rinse and lay flat to dry.
