A floor lamp that fills an empty corner with sculpture by day and soft, indirect light by night.
The MacMaster Iris Wooden Floor Lamp is an ambient uplight built from curved timber leaves gathered at the base. The bulb sits low inside the form, so the light travels up the inner faces of the wood and throws soft lines of shadow onto the nearest walls, rather than shining into your eyes. It works as accent and mood lighting in living rooms, bedrooms, entry halls and hotel lobbies, and it is wired for the U.S. with an E26 lampholder and a foot switch on a 59 in fabric cord.
Choose from two heights and two timbers. The Large stands 75.6 in tall for rooms with high ceilings; the Small, at 62.5 in, suits standard 8 ft rooms. Oak reads light and Scandinavian, walnut warmer and more traditional, so the lamp sits as easily in a Transitional scheme as in a Modern or Nordic one.

Where to use it
- Living room corner: beside a sofa or armchair, where the shadow pattern lands on two walls.
- Entry hall or landing: the Large gives height to a double-height hall or stairwell.
- Bedroom: the Small as a low-glare evening light in place of a bright overhead fixture.
- Hospitality: hotel lobbies, restaurant entrances and lounges that want a handmade focal point.
- In pairs: one each side of a window, fireplace or doorway for a symmetrical scheme.
Planning notes
- Footprint: 15.7 in across (Large) or 14 in (Small). Leave a little space around it so the shadow lines can fall on the wall.
- Place it within reach of an outlet; the cord is 59 in long and the switch is on the floor.
- Use a warm LED bulb of up to 20 W. The bulb is not included.
- It is mood and accent light. Pair it with a reading lamp where you need task light.
- Allow about 6 to 12 weeks for the workshop to make it, then shipping time.
Who this is not for
- Anyone who needs bright task or reading light from a floor lamp.
- Projects that need the lamp within days: each one is made to order in England.
- Outdoor or damp locations; it is an indoor timber lamp.
Care
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Keep it away from direct heat and radiators, and avoid water or spray polish on the timber veneer. Switch off and let the bulb cool before changing it.
Designer credit
Designed and made by Alex MacMaster, who founded MacMaster Design in 2009 and runs the workshop at The Guildings in Trimpley, near Bewdley, Worcestershire. Design, making and packing all happen in that one workshop, and his pieces are installed in homes, hotels and flagship stores across the UK, Europe and beyond.
Why we carry MacMaster
We've been curating design-led pieces since 2009, and MacMaster is the kind of maker we look for: one designer, one workshop, certified timber and no shortcuts. The studio's stands have earned the Royal Horticultural Society's five-star tradestand award at Chelsea six times, most recently in 2026.
Frequently asked questions
How tall is the MacMaster Iris floor lamp, and which size fits my room?
The Large is 75.6 in (192 cm) tall and 15.7 in (40 cm) across; the Small is 62.5 in (159 cm) tall and 14 in (35 cm) across. Under a standard 8 ft ceiling the Small is the comfortable choice; the Large suits high ceilings, open-plan spaces and stairwells.
Can I use the Iris floor lamp for reading?
It is designed as ambient and accent lighting. The bulb sits inside the timber leaves and the light washes up and onto the walls, so it creates atmosphere rather than a pool of reading light. Add a task lamp beside a reading chair.
What bulb does the Iris floor lamp take, and is it wired for U.S. outlets?
It is wired for 120 V with an E26 lampholder and switched with a foot switch on a 59 in (1.5 m) fabric cord. Use an LED bulb of up to 20 W; the bulb is not included.
Oak or walnut: which works with my interior?
Oak is pale and fresh, a natural fit for Scandinavian, Nordic and light Modern rooms. Walnut is darker and richer and sits well in Transitional schemes and rooms with dark floors or leather furniture.
Is the Iris floor lamp suitable for a hotel or restaurant?
Yes, as an indoor accent light. Its sculptural shape makes it a focal point in lobbies, lounges and entrances. For project quantities, open a trade account so we can plan pricing and delivery with you.
How long does the MacMaster Iris floor lamp take to arrive?
It is made to order in Worcestershire, England. Allow about 6 to 12 weeks for the workshop, then shipping to you.
