Cocoon Stairwell Pendant Light by MacMaster

A tall, slim wooden pendant made for stairwells, voids and high ceilings.

The MacMaster Cocoon Stairwell Pendant Light is a long, narrow spiral of timber strips around the bulb. Its height does the work in tall spaces: it fills the vertical void of a stairwell or a double-height hall without taking floor or wall space. Light spirals out through the gaps between the strips.

Three lengths: Small 17.7 in, Medium 35.4 in and Large 47.2 in, with diameters from 6.3 to 9.8 in. It is supplied with a cord set, in oak or walnut.

Where to use it

• Stairwell: the Large or Medium hung down the centre of the stair void.
• Double-height entry: a group of three at staggered heights.
• Over a kitchen island: Smalls in a row where ceilings are high.
• Hotel atria and restaurants: repeated Cocoons for a striking vertical rhythm.

Planning notes

• Measure your ceiling height and stair clearance before choosing a length.
• Use an LED bulb (not included).
• Have a qualified electrician install it and set the drop.

Who this is not for

• Rooms with standard 8 ft ceilings, where the Medium and Large are too long.
• Bright task light over a desk or worktop.
• Damp or outdoor spaces.

Care

Dust the timber with a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush. Keep water, spray polish and cleaning sprays off the veneer, and switch off and let the bulb cool before changing it. A warm-white LED keeps heat low and shows the grain at its best.
