TRITTICO is the complete set of the three CENTO3 writing instruments, the last design Achille Castiglioni drew, in 2001, with the architect Gianfranco Cavaglià, engineered and brought to life by EGOUNDESIGN in Bologna in 2021. Inside: CENTO3.E, a multifunction instrument for graphite, crayon and highlighter inserts; CENTO3.G, a pocket fountain pen; and CENTO3.O, a mechanical pencil for precise technical drawing. Every instrument is 3D-printed in biodegradable graphene PLA, one at a time, which leaves a subtle non-slip texture, and the three-lobed section keeps it from rolling off the table. The set also holds three graphite leads, blue and red write-on-anything wax crayons and green and yellow dry highlighters, presented in a handmade 9.8″ × 9.8″ box covered in soft-touch paper, with the story of the project in Italian and English.

Why we carry it

We’ve been curating design-led pieces since 2009. EGOUNDESIGN is an independent design studio and brand in Bologna that designs and produces with 3D printing and an Italian supply chain from material to finished piece. Working with the Fondazione Achille Castiglioni and Gianfranco Cavaglià, it turned Castiglioni’s unpublished writing instruments into CENTO3, unveiled in 2021. Buy once: durability and care

Wipe the instruments with a soft, dry cloth and keep them away from strong heat, since PLA softens with heat (our advice). Cap the fountain pen after use so the nib doesn’t dry out (our advice).
