Best for

Best for patios, decks and covered porches as well as living rooms, bedrooms and entryways indoors. Set it within easy reach of the seat, roughly level with the sofa arm (24–26") or, beside a bed, close to the mattress top (our guide).

Who this is not for

• A nightstand beside a tall bed: at 17–17.1" it sits below a typical 24–28" mattress top (our guide); look at a nightstand or a taller side table for that.
• Heavy loads: TOV rates the top for 90 to 132 lb, depending on the option.
• Anyone who wants a stain-proof surface: concrete is porous and should be wiped quickly and used with coasters (our advice).
• Anyone who wants to leave it uncovered in all weather: TOV recommends covering it during bad weather or when not in use.
