The SONO dispenser is a rounded ceramic body, 3.7" × 3.4" and 5.7" tall, that holds 8.5 fl oz (250 ml) of liquid soap. A light press on the pump head dispenses; to refill, pull the head out with its seal, top up and press it back in. The outside has a matte soft-touch coating that feels almost like suede, so it is pleasant to use with wet hands. Choose Micro Chip, White, Black, Moonbeam, Satellite, Magnet or Tan, and match the tumbler, tray and soap dish.

The designer: Nina Thöming

Nina Thöming (born 1984) is an industrial designer at Flöz Design, a German studio that has worked with blomus for about 15 years. She begins with research into how people really use a space, then shapes objects that solve that need quietly. For blomus she created SONO, MENOTO and MODO for the bathroom and PILAR for the table.

It began in 1921 making bicycle parts, moved into copper, brass, pewter and stainless-steel design pieces in 1961, and has worked under the blomus name since 2000.

Buy once: durability and care

Wash by hand only; SONO is not dishwasher safe. Wipe the soft-touch exterior with a soft, damp cloth and a little mild soap, and skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners. The soft-touch coating gives SONO its velvety, matte feel, while the insides of the cups, tray and holders are glazed so they rinse clean.
