The designer: Nina Thöming
Nina Thöming (born 1984) is an industrial designer at Flöz Design, a German studio with a long partnership with blomus. She starts from research into how people actually use a space, then shapes objects that solve that need quietly. Her blomus work runs from the MODO, SONO and NEXIO bath lines to PILAR tableware and outdoor pieces such as CALMA.
Why we carry it
We are an authorized blomus retailer and have been curating design-led pieces for the home since 2009. MACCHIATO is our answer to sticky sugar bowls and dripping jugs: two slim glass pieces that pour cleanly and let you see when to refill. blomus is a family company run by the fourth generation of the Blome family in Sundern, Germany: it started in 1921 with bicycle parts, turned to metal design pieces in 1961, and has worked under the blomus name since 2000.
Buy once: durability and care
blomus does not publish care instructions for MACCHIATO. Our advice: hand wash the glass and spouts in warm, soapy water, and make sure the sugar dispenser is completely dry before refilling so the sugar does not clump.
