blomus LITO Steel Candle Lantern, 4 Sizes & 4 Colors

An open steel-rod candle lantern that throws patterned shadows across the room, in four sizes and four colors.

LITO is a cage of thin powder-coated steel rods around a candle; when it is lit, the rods cast a web of shadows on the walls and table. There are four sizes: XS (5.5" × 4.1", for a tealight or votive), Small (8.1" × 6.7"), Medium (10.8" × 10.6") and Large (13" × 17.7"), the last big enough to read as a small piece of furniture on the floor. Choose Black, White, Nomad (khaki) or Mourning Dove (light gray-brown); the Large comes in Black or White. LITO is designed for indoor use, and candles are not included.

The designer: Nina Thöming

Nina Thöming (born 1984) is an industrial designer with Flöz Design, a German studio that has worked with blomus for about 15 years. She begins every project by researching what people need and where the market falls short, then turns those findings into objects that are useful first and beautiful too. Her other blomus designs include the PILAR tableware, the MODO and SONO bath ranges and the SPIRIT lantern.

Why we carry it

We are an authorized blomus retailer and have been curating design-led pieces for the home since 2009. LITO is the blomus line we suggest when a room needs warmth without clutter: open forms drawn in thin powder-coated steel rods that read as both modern and farmhouse. blomus is a family company run by the fourth generation of the Blome family in Sundern, Germany. It began in 1921 making bicycle parts, moved into copper, brass, pewter and stainless-steel design pieces in 1961, and has worked under the blomus name since 2000.

Buy once: durability and care

Dust with a soft cloth. Use a candle that sits steady inside and never leave a burning candle unattended or near curtains. The powder coating gives the steel rods an even, matte color all the way around.
