Short Frosted with Brim is a compact mini pendant with a little more presence: a thin 3-inch metal brim sits above a short frosted acrylic glow, giving each light a crisp silhouette. Hang one at each side of a bed, a row over a kitchen island or bar, or groups at staggered heights over restaurant tables, as in the maker's photo. At only about 3 inches tall, it suits lower ceilings and tight spaces, and its Modern, slightly industrial look fits Transitional, Scandinavian and contemporary homes as well as cafés, wine bars and hotels.

The brim shields your eyes from above and sends the light down toward the table, while the 1-inch frosted acrylic guide below glows softly with no visible LED. Blackjack Lighting is a design- and technology-driven lighting maker based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, outside Chicago. It is led by industrial designer Stephen Blackman, its President and Chief Design Officer. A Syracuse University industrial design graduate, he entered the lighting industry in 1984 at Sonneman Design Group and founded his own studio, Blackman Design Associates, in 1988, designing for manufacturers such as Kichler Lighting before launching Blackjack in 2013. Plan on 28 to 34 in above a dining or restaurant table and 30 to 36 in above a kitchen counter, measured to the bottom of the glow.

Short or Tall with Brim?

Short with Brim is about 3 in tall with a 1 in frosted glow, ideal for low ceilings and close spacing. Tall Frosted with Brim has a 5 in frosted rod, about 7 in overall, for more vertical presence.

How is it mounted?

Each pendant has its own 5 in canopy with the driver inside, fixed to a standard ceiling junction box. Cut the cable to length on site. A qualified electrician should install it using the linked instructions.

What dimmer can I use?

Any TRIAC, ELV or 0-10V dimmer on a 120 to 277V circuit.

Which finish should I choose?

Matte Black gives the brim a bold, graphic edge; Polished Chrome reflects the glow; White keeps the pendant light and quiet against a white ceiling.
