Raindrop hangs nine white glass globes of different sizes from each 24-inch square canopy, at different heights, so the light seems to be falling like rain caught mid-air. It comes as a 24-inch square with nine globes, or as 48, 72 and 96-inch rectangles with 18, 27 and 36 globes. The square suits a round dining table, a foyer or a stairwell; the long rectangles are made for a long dining or conference table, a kitchen island, a reception desk or a hotel lobby, where they turn a ceiling into the focal point of the room. The soft, organic arrangement balances crisp Modern architecture and also sits well in Transitional and Scandinavian interiors.
Every globe glows evenly through white glass, so the fixture gives a gentle, glare-free ambient light at 3000K and 90 CRI, flattering to faces and finishes. The drivers fit inside the canopies and run on 120-277V with universal TRIAC, ELV and 0-10V dimming, which means it works with home dimmers and commercial controls alike. It ships pre-set to a 43-inch overall height, and the cluster adjusts on site from about 30 to 101 inches to suit standard and tall ceilings.
Why it works as a centerpiece
- Light with movement: globes of varying size at varying drops read like falling raindrops.
- Four sizes: 24 x 24, 24 x 48, 24 x 72 and 24 x 96 in (61 x 61 to 61 x 244 cm).
- Soft, even glow: white glass globes hide the LEDs completely.
- True color: 90 CRI warm 3000K light.
- Universal dimming on 120-277V: TRIAC, ELV or 0-10V.
- Adjustable drop: pre-set at 43 in overall, adjustable from about 30 to 101 in on site.
Where to use it
- Dining table: the 24 in square over a round table; the 48 or 72 in over a rectangular table, about 12 in shorter than the table at each end. Keep the lowest globes 30 to 36 in (76 to 91 cm) above the top.
- Foyers and stairwells: the square or a 48 in rectangle with the globes dropped low to fill a two-story space.
- Hotel lobbies and reception desks: the 72 or 96 in rectangle along the length of the desk.
- Conference rooms and restaurants: over long tables and banquettes for an ambient layer above task lighting.

About Blackjack Lighting and Stephen Blackman

Blackjack Lighting is a design- and technology-driven lighting maker based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, outside Chicago. It is led by industrial designer Stephen Blackman, its President and Chief Design Officer. A Syracuse University industrial design graduate, he entered the lighting industry in 1984 at Sonneman Design Group and founded his own studio, Blackman Design Associates, in 1988, designing for manufacturers such as Kichler Lighting before launching Blackjack in 2013. His focus has always been practical: fixtures built around LED light from the start, and in Signature Series pieces like Raindrop, using many small points of light to shape a whole room.
FAQ
Which size should I choose?
Match the canopy to what is below it: the 24 in square for round tables up to about 54 in and for foyers; the 48 in for 6 to 7 ft tables; the 72 in for 8 to 9 ft tables and islands; the 96 in for long conference tables and reception desks.
How high should it hang?
Over a table, keep the lowest globes 30 to 36 in above the top. In walkways, keep at least 7 ft clear below. It is pre-set at 43 in overall and adjusts from about 30 to 101 in.
What does it mount to?
Each 24 in canopy section mounts to the ceiling over a junction box, with the driver inside the canopy. The installation instructions show the mounting for each size; use structural support suitable for the fixture.
Will it work with my dimmer?
Yes in most cases. The drivers support TRIAC (incandescent-style), ELV and 0-10V dimming on 120-277V.
Can I change the pattern?
The globes arrive in Blackjack's raindrop pattern, and the cables are field adjustable, so the installer can fine-tune the heights on site.
