Blackjack Lighting Pillbox 10-Inch and 20-Inch Pendant Light, LED or E26

Pillbox takes the classic tapered drum shade and gives it a confident, contemporary scale. The 10-inch size works in rows of two or three over a kitchen island, a bar or a run of restaurant tables, or as a pair beside a bed; the 20-inch size, nearly 22 inches across, anchors a dining table, a living room or a cafe on its own. The spun aluminum shade comes in Black or White outside with a warm Gold or crisp White interior, so it can read sleek and Modern or warm and Mid-century, at home in Transitional and Scandinavian rooms as well as restaurants, hotels and offices.

The shade throws light down where you need it and glows at the rim. Choose the integrated LED version for clean, dimmable light through a frosted glass diffuser: 679 lumens from the 10-inch with a gold interior (800 with a white interior) and 2071 lumens from the 20-inch, all at 90 CRI in warm 3000K white, with a 120-277V driver in the canopy and universal dimming. Or choose the E26 socket version and pick your own bulb. Both hang from a 144-inch cable that you set to height on site, and both are damp location rated.

Where to use it

• Kitchen island: hang two or three 10 in Pillbox pendants, 24 to 30 in apart, with the shade bottoms 30 to 36 in above the counter.
• Dining table: center one 20 in Pillbox over a table about 36 to 48 in wide, 30 to 36 in above the top; use two over a long table.
• Restaurants and cafes: repeat 10 in or 20 in shades over banquettes and tables for a consistent, warm glow, as in the maker's restaurant photos.
• Living room or entry: a single 20 in shade gives a strong center point; keep at least 7 ft clear below it where people walk.

About Blackjack Lighting and Stephen Blackman

Blackjack Lighting is a design- and technology-driven lighting maker based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, outside Chicago. It is led by industrial designer Stephen Blackman, its President and Chief Design Officer. A Syracuse University industrial design graduate, he entered the lighting industry in 1984 at Sonneman Design Group and founded his own studio, Blackman Design Associates, in 1988, designing for manufacturers such as Kichler Lighting before launching Blackjack in 2013. His focus has always been practical: fixtures built around LED light from the start, like Pillbox, whose frosted diffuser and lined shade put warm, glare-free light on the table.

FAQ

10 in or 20 in: which size should I choose?

Choose the 10 in for islands, bars and rows of two or more, or beside a bed. Choose the 20 in, which is 21.5 in across, to light a dining table, a living room or a cafe with a single fixture; the LED version gives about three times the light of the 10 in.

LED or E26?

Choose the integrated LED for dimmable, maintenance-free light at 90 CRI with a frosted glass diffuser. Choose the E26 socket if you prefer to pick your own bulb. Not every finish is offered in every size and lamping, so the selector above shows only the maker's real combinations.

What does it need in the ceiling?

A standard ceiling junction box. The LED driver is in the canopy, so no remote transformer is needed. The 144 in cable is shortened on site to the height you want.

Will it work with my dimmer?

The LED version dims on TRIAC (incandescent-style), ELV and 0-10V controls. The E26 version dims with a dimmable bulb and a dimmer rated for it.

Can I use it on a covered porch?

Yes. Pillbox is damp location rated, so covered porches and humid spaces out of direct water are fine. The LED version's light source is built in, and Blackjack covers the LED and power supply for three years.
